Jesus Is Back…… (In Theatres)

Have you seen the movie trailer for the movie, “Son of God,” coming to theaters on February 28th? “Jesus hasn’t been on the big screen in ten (10) years since “The Passion of the Christ,” said actress Roma Downey, best known for her leading role on the TV series “Touched by an Angel,” and her husband, reality TV show producer Mark Burnett of “Survivor,” “Shark Tank” and “The Voice” fame. The couple is the creative team behind “Son of God.” The couple is hoping that the movie appeals to a new generation of moviegoers. Last year, Burnett and Downey produced “The Bible” mini-series for the History Channel. The Sunday school epic was wildly successful, becoming the number one drama series of 2013 with more than 100 million viewers — more than “Breaking Bad,” “Mad Men” or “The Walking Dead.”

Coming in March (March 28th) another biblical movie comes to theaters….. “Noah,” the new film starring Russell Crowe as Noah, based on the Biblical story of Noah’s Ark. In a world ravaged by human sin, Noah is given a divine mission: to build an Ark to save creation from the coming flood. I’ve been watching the calendar and this movie is going to be epic….. Fox News movie critic, Kevin McCarthy, says that this year will be the biggest movie year for biblical themed movies in the theaters and I’m excited to see what else is out there as the year progresses…..

The Wine Maker

20140215-084504.jpgThe Keurig was sputtering out the third cup of coffee of a very long morning. I had just spent the past three hours working to restore to “normal” after a devastating cyber attack. An attack that lasted a total of 17 days. This was the new normal. The night before, sitting there frustrated and consumed, the words “I’m not sure I want to do this anymore” left my lips as a plea to God to take it away. Not just the problem, but the blog too. I was done!

But those are not the words God would listen to. God was waiting for Continue reading “The Wine Maker”

Carpe Diem!

Life is hard. Ever wonder at what point in our lives things will become easy? I’m pretty sure that we’ll always be making adjustments and I’m fairly certain that most of us struggle to get it all done every day. Does that make us bad people? Are we less of a person for falling short? Is being knocked down that important if you rise above it all and get back up? The ability to rebound from a failure has got to be one of our life’s greatest accomplishments. What doesn’t kill you will make you stronger, so shouldn’t those same things make you want to remain strong? Should you really have to continue to pay for your mistakes, your failures, and those bad memories from your past?

Where are you at in your faith walk with God right now? It’s OK to stop in your tracks and check your progress….. I love knowing where I stand with God and I’m comfortable enough with my relationship with Him to accept His direction. How many times in your life have you found yourself in a place and you honestly had no idea that you’d ever be there? For me, that’s one of the most gratifying moments in our lives. I’m there right now! Where I stand (right here, right now) is hands down the most incredible spot I’ve ever been in. It’s surprising to be here, but the view is absolutely incredible. Sometimes in life you just have to accept that things are happening around you that are unexplainable, things that are out of your control, and things that only God could be responsible for. Are there people in our lives that believe that to be untrue? Absolutely, not everyone has a comfortable enough relationship with God. Maybe there are people that struggle with their relationship with Him and they aren’t strong enough to allow themselves to believe that he is the answer! Check your progress people!
What we’ve been through to get to this point in our lives is important, but our successes will always outweigh our failures. We are not defined by what tried to break us; we are defined by what makes us. Don’t waste your time by putting any value in the knockdowns; put it all into what brought you back to your feet. Life is not easy; we do not have the luxury of being perfect.

God is perfect, we are not.” That quote from the book Experiencing God, written by Henry Blackaby and Claude King, is still one of my favorite things I’ve ever read.

It’s so true and so like us as a society to think that we need to live this perfect life to be accepted by God. God is perfect, so we do not have to be! Why would we want to live our lives with the mentality that we are “stuck,” why would we want to stand still and not move forward? I hope you’re with me when I say this…… Jesus did was not crucified on that cross for me to sit here and take that lightly. Take a step forward, do something, and do it with all that you have.
CARPE DIEM! Seize every moment that you’re given, we are promised nothing.
