Before the stone was rolled away.
Before Jesus descended into Hell and returned victorious leading the captives out.
Before the Roman Soldiers threw dice for Jesus’ clothes.
Yes, before. Before all of that there was a secret disciple. A man that followed Jesus. Loved Jesus. Worshiped Jesus. A man that did so secretly because he was afraid. Let me introduce you to

I suppose it depends on what you’re giving up. Our reading selection today (use the link above) is full of recognizing God’s sovereign authority. David, on the run again, finds himself the object of insults and thrown rocks and still recognizes God’s sovereignty in the situation. Jesus tells Pilate that he would have no power unless God above gave Pilate power. What is remarkable (kind of an understatement given David’s and Jesus’ situation right?) is

There are days when I read the Bible and it is about the story. What happens. What doesn’t. How the people react to situations. How it relates to me, my life, and my story. Lots of days like that. Then there are days when the Word speaks directly to me… like today.

Have you ever wondered if Jesus was talking about JUST the disciples around Him and the people that were there in His time? If I’m being honest, I have. I mean… why did He choose that time to come to Earth? I thought, “Sure I believe He is who He says He is, but that applied to them… not me, right?”
That is why reading through the Bible is so important to your faith. It will answer questions that have been whispered into your heart. Here is the answer to the questions I wrote about above: Continue reading “All Believers”
This story of David being told about the little lamb always makes me sad. As David takes his position in the story, he chooses King David as ruler. He takes pity on the shepherd because he used to be one. Once David has made up his mind as King, he lays down a judgment that could only come from a King. “Any man who does such a thing should Continue reading “The Little Lamb”
Let me paint the picture for you….. I’m sitting at my desk, coffee within arms reach, BO (my dog) is asleep at my feet, my kids are still sound asleep, and it’s so quiet that I can hear the two ceiling fans in my living room competing for the smoothest rhythm between them. At this moment, in that “right here, right now” setting, things are as close to perfect as I may ever know them to be defined. The reality of this setting is that at some point, sooner rather than later, things are going to change, phones will ring, dogs will bark, those famous two lines will be spoken…… “Daddy, I’m hungry.” and “Daddy, I’m bored.” In the quietness I even want to rush through my thoughts so that I can enjoy some of the quiet time to myself. I’ve realized that we are selfish people and I am the most selfish person I know; so spoiled from the surroundings in my life and yet so unwilling to express any form of gratitude for all that I’ve been given and blessed with.
In the quietness I wondered what bible verse would speak to me today and then it appeared. The internet can be a wonderful tool. Within seconds I found this and I’ve found it time and time again over the years. As you go thorough your day today and this week maybe this is something that you will carry with you…..
My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.

Jesus tells the diciples today to do as He says. Obey His Word. He doesn’t leave them abandoned. He sends His Spirit. He warns them of the devil’s attack. He explains how much He loves the Father, obeying the Father’s Word, and how much He loves them.
We must… MUST understand that Jesus’ living Word speaks the same messages to us today. Go and re-read the selection by clicking the link above and let Jesus speak to your heart.
If this message blesses you, pass it on.
